My Placement

Guess I was lucky to get placed at the first try itself!!
During the presentation, we were informed that we would have to sign a 2 year bond( Yes, can't escape that :( ). But I had started getting thoughts about Hexaware, I was not sure if I wanted to join them in first place. But then, who else would employ a fool like me... so I decided to stick around. Thus it started, with a very skeptical

This is how it went: The whole process was divided into 3.
  1. Apptitude test
  2. Group Discussion
  3. Personal Interview
1. Apptitude test:
It was a written test comprising of both technical and analytical questions. And some vocabulary questions too(... wonder what were they doing there... I didn't expect them to test my vocabulary). I started with the technical questions, that were placed last on the paper. Finished them pretty soon. Then went to the vocabulary- right or wrong, I wrote these too quickly. Then
was time for mathematical questions. These took some time. Yes, it was simple mathematics...but after 3 year of using a scientific calculator to calcualte 2+2, it does rack your brain. Managed to write 85/100. They were no negetive marks, so scribbled random answers to the last 10 answers. I could not make it a full 100 :(. What should I say about this... got through.

2. Group Discussion:
Boy, did I enjoy this!! The topic we were given was "Is advertising wasteful expenditure". I was quite sure that it was logical to say that, it was necessary but it should be limited. But as the GD started, people started ranting about the needs of advertising...everyone seemed to have forgotten about the "expenditure". I just bargained that advertising although needed to make the consumer aware, should not involve unnecessary spending. "Amitabh Bachchan does not need to be there in every add." In the end its the consumer who pays for the advertising. Did pretty well in the GD.

3. Personal Interview:
Here I was quizzed about everything from my personal details to technical aspects of my projects. It was quite good, I guess not being too sure that you want the job helps. I mean, I was really relaxed. Couldn't help to smile at some of the things they said... It was fun.

To sum it up, its was great fun. It would be good to be more circumspect. Will try to remember that.

Have I ever told you, to get something, I have to stop wanting it???
